The moment I saw this adorable party on the sweetest occasion I fell in love. I do not have kids, but believe me when I do I will be hosting my very own Thank God Its Back to School Party with many cocktails. These cheeky swizzle sticks and banners are easily printable via this link. So all you parents grabs your friends, and some drinks and celebrate the end to another wonderful summer!

gifting question: the boy

I had a lovely reader send me an email asking about what she could give to her boyfriend as a birthday gift. She does not want to do clothes, books, or anything “standard” for the big day but needed some advice. I am a big fan of giving experiences to people when you are able to. There is something so thoughtful about taking the time to put together an experience gift that cannot go unnoticed. Knowing that her main squeeze is a sports buff I recommended the following gift: the baseball experience. {this is a gift I put together for my husband a few birthdays ago and he loved it!}

Give any Boston boy tickets to a red sox game and they will be grinning ear to ear, give them tickets to a red sox vs yankees game and they are yours forever. So I suggested she get him tickets to a game in the series for the two of them.

step 1

The best part of any gift is the presentation, so rather than just wrap the tickets, or write about them in a card, I recommended she get a silver frame and engrave it with the date of the game on the top. {this will hold an adorable picture in the future of them siting in the seats celebrating!} but for now print out a picture of the view from the seats and place it in the frame. {You can usually get this on the stadium website or stubhub.com} When he opens the frame give him a few minutes to figure out how amazing this gift is.

step 2: {pottery barn has some great options}

step 3

I hope he loves the gift, and wish him a very happy birthday!

proper topper

I love hats. Every form of them, from an everyday hat, to a special occasion hat, to the amazing bridal hat they add some serious personality to any outfit. BHLDN has some amazing hat options this season. While most of them are bridal inspired there are a few that you could do in darker shades for your maids, or even wear for all the parties leading up to the big day. How fun would a true “hen” party be if hats were required?

city hall chic, reminds me of yesterday's post

Classic City Hall Wedding

It may be officially fall according to the calendar but it is a rainy, gloomy, day here in New England. Something that is helping brightening this dreary day is this city hall wedding I stumbled upon on  A Cup of Joe. Every detail is so perfect it looks like an ad campaign. {her veil is amazing!} There is something so romantic about the idea of just the bride and groom escaping off to get married and celebrating with a lovely dinner party after with friends and family. {Read more about it in the full post linked above}

the umbrella frames the scene perfectly.

farewell summer

I guess this weekend makes it official, summer is ending. It has been a wonderful summer here in New England and I wish it would stay a little bit longer, but I do love fall {foliage, football games, warm sweaters, and boot season} so that gives me something to look forward to. To bid summer 2011 farewell I wanted to share some of my favorite details of summer events I have seen over these past few months. Until next year summer, don’t stay away too long!

Enjoy your long holiday weekend.

moving right along

This has been a crazy week, but we have officially moved into our new home! And all I can do it think about all the fun new ways I want to decorate it. Although these linens from leontine will certainly not be in the cards for our bed anytime soon, they are on the top of my luxe item wish {ok, dream) list. I can’t imagine a more perfect home than ours for those monograms to live in. For now, I will just drool over all the amazing images while I unpack for the next few days.
